6 Unique Dining Experiences in Brisbane

Needless to say, I am quite a big eater and I appreciate unique experiences when it comes to food. Here are 5 Unique Dining Experiences in Brisbane.

Everyone often escapes to Sydney to discover unique dining experiences. But in the case of a Brisban-ite like me, I try to see the good in this ever-developing country town. From the magnitude of dining places at Howard Smith Wharves to the new Woolloongabba Precinct, South City Square, due to open a 300-seated brewery, cinema and Hyatt Hotel in the near future...Brisbane might be starting to have something that the other cities lack. Charm, yet sophistication in a laidback setting. Needless to say, I am quite a big eater and I appreciate unique experiences when it comes to food.

Here are 6 Unique Dining Experiences in Brisbane:

1. Kickin Inn' $$

I've been wanting to check out this place for so freaking long. So I booked a table for one Wednesday night after a photoshoot, took my hungriest friends and drove over to Kickin Inn' in Spring Hill. Kickin Inn' is a Cajun Seafood restaurant which has now entered the Brisbane scene after a successful kick throughout NSW and other parts of Aus. The hype for the restaurant is centred around a seafood boil served in a bag and the sharing culture of the disposable tablecloth spread out for hungry bellies, the black gloves and bibs with a crevice for catching food (for later). There are a range of boils that you can order and we got the most popular 'Mixed Bag' and of course had to add lobster. The bag contained pipis, fresh prawns (which I have uncovered a small allergy to), crabs, potatoes, peeled prawns and mussels. Adding in the cajun sauce and some rice on the side makes this a truly messy affair. But side note, don't try to attempt to film anything once the annual feast commences or you'll get left behind.

Kickin Inn' is located at 477 Boundary St, Spring Hill.

2. The Prawnster

If floating on a seafood trawler is how you would define a unique experience then look no further past The Prawnster. Second on the list but surely unique enough, it is a dining experience not to be missed. Fitted with bench seating and a large communal table with benches, The Prawnster is interactive, fun and tests your balance and appetite. Serving only the best Australian wild catch, a dozen of oysters cost $40, Tasmanian Salmon Platter will set you back $25 and other platters can be mixed and matched depending on your taste.

The Prawnster is located on Berth B1, Dockside Marina, 44 Ferry Street Kangaroo Point.

3. Dining in the Dark

Immerse yourself in a unique experience of eating in the dark at this venue in Woolloongabba. Indulge in a 3-course meal presented by Fever and Secret Brisbane. To book tickets head to Dining in the Dark.

4. Vertigo

Dine on the edge of Brisbane’s powerhouse at Vertigo Brisbane. Australia’s first vertical restaurant, enjoy your meal 17 stories high. Definitely for the adrenaline junkie in me.

Vertigo is located at 119 Lamington Street, New Farm

5. 1st Edition

Their motto is food, cocktails and good times. I couldn't agree more. For a truly comical experience head to 1st Edition in Fortitude Valley where the food and drinks are served by your favourite comic book heroes. Their menu knods is flavour to characters such as Green Lantern, Doctor Strange and Spiderman with a play-on-words for the range of cocktails offered. Sit at the long bar where you can interact with the bartenders and those beside you.

1st Edition is location at 356 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley

6. Da Buiso

Born from a desire to create a unique degustation experience, I present ‘Da Buiso’. A fine dining experience served in a converted school bus.

Da Buiso is located at 449a Kingsford Smith Dr, Hamilton

I would love to hear if you have tried any of these experiences. I have lived in Brisbane the passed 6 years but there is always something popping up, so there’s no way I can experience all of these!

And if you have any other suggestions for the list, please send them through.

As always, hope you enjoyed reading and have a wonderful week. xx
