Best Spots + Times to See the Luna Eclipse in Brisbane

I just saw that a “blood moon” luna eclipse is coming for us in Australia tomorrow night (14/02/25). This is great news, considering this time last week we had a tropical cyclone coming towards us….bye bye Alfred, we don’t miss you. 👋

So in the spirit of never gatekeeping my top locations, I thought I’d jump on here and let you know the Best Spots + Times To See The Luna Eclipse in Brisbane.

BEST VIEWING SPOTS:

📍Mt Coo-Tha

This spot is going to be very popular, and for good reason. Mt Cootha has the best view of Brisbane anyways but it’s going to be popping off tomorrow night. There’s a carpark up the top so I would recommend getting there about an hour before the moon rises. There’s also a cafe up the top called Summit Cafe which is open until 9pm.

📍Wilson’s Outlook Reserve

I feel like this might be the easiest spot to go to, if you are already enjoying a drink at Howard Smith Wharves (HSW) then this spot isn’t too far away, unless you’re lazy and you can see it from HSW then I would be impressed.

📍Kangaroo Point Cliffs

Another iconic Brisbane location to view (anything) from. But beware, it might be busy with people exercising, bbq’s and picnics and I usually have a hard time finding a carpark. This is another place you will need to arrive an hour earlier I reckon.

BEST VIEWING TIMES:

Cairns 6:32pm - 6:47pm AEST

Brisbane 6:04pm - 6:47pm AEST

Sydney 7:13pm-7:47pm AEDT

Canberra 7:22pm-7:47pm AEDT

Melbourne 7:40pm-7:47pm AEDT

Hobart 7:32pm-7:47pm AEDT

But hold up, if you didn’t catch this eclipse, there is a second one predicted during the early hours of September 8, 2025. This one will also be visible from across Australia, but if you’re in New Zealand during this time you’re in for a treat - the eclipsed Moon will be setting at sunrise: like a complete 360 to tomorrow’s eclipse. Stunning!

Enjoy the eclipse - send me some pics on IG if you end up seeing it @travellyconcierge
