Where can I take a shower in Dubai Airport?

*This blogpost applies to terminal 3 only*

I haven’t been to Dubai airport since I was twelve in 2009. I remember my mum and aunty having a shower at the Dubai Airport and I was so jealous. I also remember the Dubai weather - the hazy sky, the humidity and the men dressed head to toe in white cloth. I remember wives holding kids and pushing luggage through the terminal, their husbands - ahead of them. I thought, ‘Damn it must be so difficult to look after your kids while pushing the luggage’.

However, none of that shocked me. What I felt the most shocked by was the prayer rooms, and the loudspeaker call to prayer every few hours. 15 years later, I have grown up and started to find peace and solitude in prayer and wish they did it every hour.

However, there are a few things that I wanted to share about the Dubai International Airport which will help you if you have a layover of 6 hours or less. But mostly importantly, if you want to know where to take a shower in Dubai Airport then read below.

WHERE TO SHOWER:

We pre-booked online at Dubai Bookers . To locate the showers, proceed to DXB Health Club located at Level 5, outside Emirates Business Class Lounge and show the reception your booking confirmation email. We accidentally read our arrival time wrong and booked the incorrect time slot but they were happy to accommodate us. A nice shower after a 14 hour flight in an economy seat does wonders!

BEST CONCOURSE TO EXPLORE:

We were originally at concourse B but it felt crowded and not a vibe. I asked one of the Dubai Airport Workers which concourse was the best and he suggested A. The airport train is free and easy to ride between concourses, it will take 7 minutes to get to A from B. Although A might look the same as B, we found that it has more empty seating areas.

AVOID SHOPPING IF YOU ARE ON A BUDGET:

If you want to buy a perfume, maybe don’t buy it here? Mum was shook though when she was about to drop $300 AUD on a bottle of Aesop perfume. Food is quite expensive too so we had a very healthy meal of Maccas (McDonalds) which was within budget. How good is it that you can always rely on Maccas to be the exact same price worldwide, even in Dubai.

TAKE A USB CHARGER CORD:

I was a bit disappointed to find that the charging cables throughout Dubai Airport needed the USB charger cord, which is kinda strange considering all iPhone’s are switching over to USB-C? I am quite stubborn when it comes to spending at the airport so I forbid myself to buy another charging cord just to accommodate those few hours. Almost all of the charging ports wouldn’t work anyways so it was pointless. Anyways, we made it work and managed to charge my phone via my laptop. Just in case you were wondering…

In conclusion, although Dubai International Airport isn’t my first pick of airports around the world (Singapore Airport wins on that one), the people are friendly and willing to help which is always a bonus when you are tired and confused on a layover.

On my next layover in Dubai I will definitely grab a tourist visa and exit the airport. I have always wanted to visit the Burj Khalifa so maybe it’s time!
